Win2K Quota question

Hey guys/gals,
I've got a win2k file server that I'd like to place some quota's on. Ideally, I'd like to have the quota's at the file level, as opposed to at the disk level.

Is there a way to do this within windows, or with a 3rd party prog? I know that Quota Advisor will do the job, but that's some expensive enterprise software.

Thanks in advance.
Shane🙂

You're looking at some 3rd party software of which Quota Advisor is probably the best. We just purchased a copy of it, I think it was like $1200. (close to $1500 with maintenance)

Edit: Actually, we purchased the Storage CeNTral suite which contains Quota Advisor, Disk Advisor (reporting/trending) and Filescreen. The entire suite was priced as I listed above.

Hi bud Guy,

Win2k Server does come with Quota management, but I have to say it blows. It assigns quota to based on user not folder location. Also, there is no notification mechanism to let you know that you're hitting your quota.

The product to look at is Northern Quota Server. It is one excellent quota management product. Here's the link:

Please let me know if you purchase it 🙂 I have some question about the new version.
