Win2k Pro to Win2k Advanced Server - 200kkeys better on a 558MHz P3

Train

Win2k Advanced Server has some bad @ss optimization settings, I optimized it for Applications instead of Services and left Dnetc as the only application, went from 1.55 Mkeys to 1.75 Mkeys, saweeet. Of course when i get my website on there im going to want to switch optimization back to services, and at that time i will move dnetc to a service as well, to hopefully keep the good keyrate.

Besides that Win2k server is a HELL of a lot more advanced compared to Pro than i thought, theres just so much stuff! Im gonna have to buy a book to figure it all out. I had to change 5 security settings just to get Dnetc.exe to run ok! sheesh.

i didnt install it, i had it on another partition, before i installed the new os, thats probly why anything from other partition was actin funny.

Advanced Server kicks ass, blows all the others away IMHO.

LOL urbantechie. Except it'll NEVER blow *nix away, but I digress... 😉

I'm running 2K advanced server on my dual Xeon box and it's been running pretty steady, considering how much sh*t I have loaded on it (Setiqueue, SETI, pproxy, RC5, FTP services, etc). In fact, before I put my game box together, I was playing UT on it! LOL

Right now, I have RC5 running on it multi-threaded, which is giving me about 1.05Mkeys/sec on my Xeon II 400 1MBs with SETI running on one of the procs (~11hrs/WU).

And Train, if you had to change 5 security settings, then I'm assuming you didn't run it as Administrator or your personal account wasn't on the Administrator's list...? 😕

😉

i bet you still have to log out to change your user. wish win2k could do it like unix, then i could run as a super user all the time instead of admin. ah well

no guys, like i said, the reason i had to change the security settings for the distributed.net folder is because it was already on a different partition, which by default, was restricted to ALL users.

Poof, how long is each WU (not the average time) when running SETI on both processors in your Xeon box. I might have a trade, but I need to see the times when you're running SETI on both CPU's. 🙂

Sukhoi - mid angle ranges (which are the majority) take a little over 11 hrs/WU on each processor of the Xeon.

Right now, I'm running a single process of SETI on one processor and am multithreading RC5 (gotta catch up to JWM...lol... 😉) on both...

Doing this, I'm still getting about 2 WUs/day from seti and about 1.05 Mkeys/sec for the multithreaded RC5 with 2 crunchers running...
