I have win98SE on one of my machines and ive had this copy of win2k a while now but never dared to install it till now.

Is it recommended to reformat C:\ and install win2K or just overinstall Win2K over top of win98 as an upgrade? If i do the upgrade methode, will i still beable to dual boot both OSses?

thanks :)

format clean and install. thats the best thing to do when installing a new OS. what are you planning to dual boot for? you might not have to and just be able to use win2k. if youre going to format, just boot the cd and itll format for you if you want.

You just listed three different things.

If you want to get rid of 98 and go all 2k? Boot from the 2k CD and format the hard drive during the initial setup.

If you upgrade your current Windows 98, you will not be able to dual boot and will most likely end up wiping it and rebuilding it with 2k.

If you put the Win 2k upgrade disk in while in 98, it will ask do you want to upgrade or install it in parallel. If you do it in parallel, aka dual boot, put it on a seperate partition.

yeah, i would run 2k and do a clean install, only 4 out of 10 "transitions" go correctly with out formatting.
