Win2k Pro IE 6.0 oddities..

Conundrum

Senior member
There's something very odd happening currently with IE. I've never seen it do anything like this before. On some pages the text will be huge and the page layout looks as if it's meant to be 640X480. My resolution is set to 1024X768... and only some pages look that way. I know something is real screwy because www.yahoo.com is all fubar and I used that all the time with the exact same setup before I did this fresh install. It was fine before I updated IE too.

It's really very strange, and I went into tools to try and see whether or not there was a problem with the font. How can that apply to this situation though, since it's only certain pages? It's really quite odd, and I can't make any sense of it. I thought perhaps someone from Anandtech encountered something similiar to this before. I looked around some other forums, but have yet to run across anything quite like this. It's not that I can't view the page, it's just that the page is not loading as it should.. and I can't seem to figure out why.

Any input would be greatly appreciated. It's just annoying... =-/

The problem could be that your default font size is wrong, so on sites like Yahoo which do not specify a font size everything is messed up, but on a site where the font is defined it would be fine.

yeah, it does sound like a font problem for sure, either what was mentioned above or possibly some corrupt fonts somewhere? maybe try reinstalling.

Well, you're definitely right. There isn't an option that I can see for adjusting the font size... but that's the problem. If I select under accessibility for the browser to ignore the font size specified by the site... all the text gets huge.

I guess I'll have to look into reinstalling IE 6.0. =-/

I wish I just knew how to change the damn default font size though. I'm sure it's located somewhere in the registry. Maybe I'll play around with it and see if I can find it.

thx for the input though.
