can i just pop in the cd and have it format my current drive? it wont try to upgrade will it?

You can upgrade if you want to. When you get to the screen that gives you the options to highlight the partition that you want server to be set up highlight the current partition and do not hit enter. I believe it is c. Anyhow you want to delete it and format it with I assume NTFS and install on that partition.
