Win2K: Playing MP3s

When using a particular PowerUser account, it would take Winamp 2.65 15 seconds to load and around the same time for an MP3's right-click menu to appear on the screen, even if Winamp is not running. Under all other accounts, the load time was nearly instantaneous. AFAIK, there are no significant differences between the various PowerUser accounts.

I uninstalled Winamp, but the problems persist.

When I right-click on an MP3, there is still the 15 second delay before the menu appears; if I'm logged in as Admin, there is no delay. All other files behave normally (ie. same load time under admin and non-admin).

Can anyone tell me exactly what happens when I right-click on a file? I assume something is being...searched...but I have no idea what could be causing those high load times.

I checked under Tools-->Folder Options-->File Types but there is no mention of Winamp in there. The MP3 extension is not associated with any applications nor is there any mention under File Types of "Winamp."

I also searched the registry, but found only two entries, despite having uninstalled Winamp:

2) HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->Applications->Winamp.exe->shell
->Enqueue
->ListBookmark
->open
->Play

2) HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Applications->Winamp.exe->shell
->Enqueue
->ListBookmark
->open
->Play

What follows "shell" seems be match exactly (IIRC) with what pops up on right-click. Beyond that hypothesis, I don't know if there's anything else useful above.

A few minutes ago, I logged into one of the other PowerUser only to find that Media Player 7 had somehow made itself the default player for MP3s. Load time and right-click were nearly instantaneous and I hoped that maybe MP7 had corrected the problem when it became the default player.

When I logged back into my account, however, I noticed a shortcut to MP7 on the desktop that I hadn't put there. As in the other account, MP7 had made itself the default player for MP3s, but it took 15 seconds for the program to load. Right-clicks also had 15 second load times.

At this point, I'm starting to wonder if it wouldn't be easier to simply delete the user and start from scratch. Before I do that, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Disregard the following:

I was searching with "Match Whole Values." Dumb, dumb, dumb.
