I've heard Win2k has probs with this...I love Win2k for apps and game support is up-to-snuff but if its unstable...I'd haveto use win98..and win98 doesnt handle video editing very well (since 4gb+ files), any comments?

If a system is properly overclocked every single app should run with the same reliability as it would at the default speed. If it doesn't than the system is truly stable at the overclocked speed. That said, my Celeron @850 runs flawlessly in Linux and Win2k.

No problem with a 550E@733 and up to 825. I'll soon have a C2 hopefully at 1ghz

A7V tbird 700 @ 800. I tried higher 98 would boot higher 2000 would not. I had the voltage maxed could not get higher. In fact I tried lowering voltage from 1.85 at 800mhz figured if that was the highest speed I could use I should try to lower heat. Anyhow I dropped voltage one step and 2000 won't boot.

I did see a modification to Asus A7V on toms hardware to get more voltage therefore more MHZ. I haven't tried it but I am thinking about it.

My system is fine in win2k..rock solid...only problems i start seeing is some data corruption when i o/c the fsb.. for instance i was at 980 for a while and everything was stable but when i was unraring certain large sets of winrar files, it would corrupt on random rars.. did the same thing in windows 98.. so i just run it at 950 to be safe now.

do what AoD recommends. start at default and then o/c slowly. i'm running happily at 700@952 w/ 1.75v.

I have a 1GHz Tbird overclocked to 1.2GHz and my son has a 700MHz Duron overclocked to 1GHz. We are both running Abit KT7 Raid Motherboards, and are able to change the processor speed on the fly. The only problem we have had is if you push the processor over its limits. Until the processor locks up, we have had no trouble with W2K. :)
