Win2k or Win98SE?

Okay, I asked about my setup on the hardware and finalized my setup there. However, I am still undecided on OS. Since Whislter is due out next year, dual-booting is waste of my money (and I've spent enough on the hardware), so what OS would serve my purpose of gaming, slight video-editing, surfing the internet (I know, a waste of powerful hardware), and word processing (another waste) for this setup:
AMD Thunderbird 1200Mhz
Alpha PAL6035 H/F
Mushkin 384MB MUSHKIN w/Siemens Infineon PC133
Microstar k7T Pro 2-A
IBM Deskstar 75GXP 45GB
Quantum Atlas 10k QM318200TN-LW 18GB
Tekram DC-390U3W Ultra160 SCSI Controller
Pioneer 16x DVD-105S
TEAC 1.44MB
Plextor PlexWriter 12/10/32S Internal
Hercules 3D Prophet II GTS PRO 64MB DDR
Thermaltake Blue Orb
Creative SoundBlaster Live! DE 5.1
3DCool Tornado 1000 w/300watt (will get 400w sometime next year)
Microsoft Natural Keyboard Pro
Microsoft Intellimouse Optical

I have an HP 895Cse printer, getting an Epson 1240U Scanner, and will hook this computer up to the Netgear RT315 Router, the computer on the other end is the piece of crap in my signature. Win98SE or Win2K? Is Win2k going to be a problem as far as drivers go?

Dual boot is best, i know you have said this isnt an option but i had to say it 🙂

Otherwise go with 2k. It offers ok Gaming performance and will be more stable for your other uses. Also it will be better able to use your big hunk of ram.

Just my 2c

Really depends on how involved you are with gaming and which games you play... go to NT Compatible to see if all the games you play will run under win2k...

Also check that all your hardware will work in win2k, either win2k supports it or the manufacturers have updated win2k drivers avaliable... From your list, the scanner MIGHT give you some problems...

If everything checks out, go with win2k for sure!
