win2k on a Pentium 166

Just for the heck of it, I put win2k on my ol' Pentium 166;64 mb ram machine.
God is this dog slow! Takes me a minute to zero the mouse pointer in on an icon. I checked the cpu usage in the performance tab, the meter was spiking from 6% to 98% constantly. Now the bare system requirements for win2k is a P133 w/ 64 mb, I just can't believe that. Is there something that I'm doing wrong here, or is this the grim reality of the situation? Thanks

VD

You'll never have much luck using the minimum memory requirements on any version of Windows. Bump it up to 128MB and see what happens.

Have you tried W2k on 486 w/32Mb RAM ? Now that is SLOW 🙂 Boot up from BIOS screen to desktop with notepad: 24min, right mouse click on desktop -> display properties: 6min, IE starts within 10 minutes... If I find enough free time I try to boot W2k with 16Mb RAM.
