You won't encounter any problems, except that you will be unable to set security settings on the FAT32 drives. But, if you do not have problems with security at home, say you're the only user, than it's fine.

when i say saving my files from my other partitions i mean files such as word, excel, mp3, win2k drivers, .iso files.... just to clear it up win2k will be the sole OS running. so are you saying i won't be able to access these files?

w2k will work fine but 98 won't be able to see the w2k ntfs partition. unless your heavy into security just use w2k with fat32.

edit..opps i didn't read all the way...if w2k is the only OS you should fine with anything you do. It can read ntfs and fat32 just fine

i recommend you keep everything at FAT32 , as you can later change it to NTFS without lose of data etc. However you can not go back (to fat32) once you have NTFS.

Also if you have a problem with the hard drive and can not boot, in FAT32 a boot disk will allow you to boot and ascess the drives and data. NTFS partitions can't be read if you boot with a boot up disc.

That said if security is very important to you, the NTFS is the way to go! :)

If not (as in my case, i live alone and have daul win98/win2k) i left everything FAT32. :)

I have been running 2000 in fat32 and would like to go to NTFS, Cosmic_Horror Said this could be done without losing files. I know at one time i was told how to do this when i installed 2000 but don't remeber how, could you refresh my mem.
