After playing some UT i returned to my desktop and had a look at task manager. Sitting idle, with no app running but Icq-Win 2k is using 140 meg of ram. This is obviously too much, is there a way to fix this?

The more RAM you have the more WIN2k will take up.

Example:
If you have 128MB of RAM, win2k will take about 25-30 just for the OS.
If you have 256MB of RAM, win2k will take about 100MB of RAM.

The more RAM you have, the more RAM win2k will take, the better Win2k will perform. If you have 512MB of RAM, win2k will probably take 200MB.

Remember, Windows is always GUI. You can't get around that.

perhaps for some setups, but not all.. my 2k machine, with 192Mb memory, used to take about 78Mb of the memory immediately after a fresh bootup. now with 576Mb it takes pretty much the same amount, and returns all of it to me after i close programs...
