Win2k not agreeing with overclocking?

I have two cell 366's that have run @ 550 for many months now, but when I switched to win2k, I'm having problems booting. Once I'm up and running, I'm solid for the day, but I've had to drop down to 366 now due to the boot issue. The machine will just reboot when loading windows, and give me a bluescreen error with the next load cycle.

any one else?

This is why I am not using win2k right now, I have a single c366 that works beautifully in win98 at 566 , but win2k wont go with it, even to get it installed I have to drop down to 366, after getting it installed 90% of the time it wont load win2k to the desktop, and when it does load win2k it usually crashes after a couple of minutes, sometimes it lasts as long as ten minutes :( I have not bothered with it for a couple of months now, waiting for a new mobo and cpu, probably around october.

Sorry crv, I meant I have two chips to work with, but it's not a dual system.

Both run perfect in different machines in 98se.

Works fine for me. Celeron 533A 100% stable up to 115 FSB in Windows 2000.

I was running my Athlon 850 @ 1000 with Win2K, but I was using a GFD, so I don't know if that is relevant.

No problems here....
Are you sure you don't have an unsupported device in the system (NIC, Video, Sound)?

I pulled my mx300 and tekram 390u and got the same problems. all that was left in was my dlink 530-tx nic and a v3-3k.

The blue screen says that I may have improperly installed hardware, but after yanking the cards, it still happens. It does manage to boot at 550 after a few tries, and then runs solid.

After dropping speed to 366, it boots and loads fine.

If your system malfunctions with Win2k when overclocked, then it is not stable at that speed.

Just because your system seems to work correctly in Win98, it doesn't mean it actually is working correctly. Testing stability is very difficult.

My computer overclocks higher in win2k that 98...my 366 only goes to 550 in 98, but 567 stable in win2k...Its definetly not windows 2000 thats the problem.

Huma,

I am running win2k a dual cel366 on a BP6 with both processors enabled and I am having the same problem. I can run either processor (meaning one installed at a time so I know both chips will do the dance) @ 550 earlier in a single processor installation, but can only run both (with a multiprocessor installation) at default speed with out lockups. At 550, I get as far as the desktop and everything freezes up. It may be easier to just re-install and run it with one processor since I don't run that many dual-enable progs anyways. Has anyone had luck oc'ing a single cel II or pIII coppermine and a powerleap neo adapter on a BP6? This seems like the only viable upgrade path for this board.
