Win2k not accessing the net???

Hi,
i can't access the net in win2k.i use a dialup line. the modem connects and evrything seems to be fine. but when i try to browse the net using IE/netscape/opera 4, it says web site not found. ftp doesn't work either. i can use the net just fine in win me, so it's not an isp or modem or phone line prob.
help appreciated
