win2k network troubles

Hey guys im using Win2k on (2) systems that are sharing a T1 connection via an SMC router/print server, but i can seem to see the other computer on either computer. Both computers Workgroup name is also the same. So whats the problem???

Are you using the built-in DHCP server from the router, or did you assign fixed ip's to the workstations, and if so, did you assign the same subnet for both computers?
