One computer has WIN2k and try to use neighborhood to share files. When I use another computer that has WIN2k, it pops up a window ask for username and password, I key in the administrator and passwork, I have access to the shared files on the first computer. But if I try to access from a WIN98 or WIN95, it just pops up the window ask the password for $IPC something like that, then I have no access to the shared files on the first computer? How do I set up in WIN2k for shared files to get rid of those passwords?

Thanks!

Right click on the folder you want to share, click share as...give it a name (or use default) and add the user (or group-it's usually better to add a user to a group then add the group and assign the group rights) to it. Then go into permissions for that share and assign the rights that user (or group)will have.

Set up a user on the W2K machine with the same username and password as the user on the Win98 machine (the password can easily be empty). After that make sure that the user have permission to the folders. This can be set in the sharing menu when you rightclick on a folder.

PS: You could also have found this info by using the search field in the top, as this issue have been cooking in the forums for very long.

The most hassle-free way is to enable the Guest account on the Win2K machine with no password (by default, that account is disabled).
