where can i find the msconfig type program in win2k? I want to take certain items out of the startup. I know you can view system information but is there another proggie? Or do i have to edit the registry?

there is none
use regedit if you know how to use it and where to locate the start up crap
if not buy a ultility called fixit utils 2k
they have start up removers for win2k

Yeah i looked and found nothing except system information which gives the location of the key or string entry in the registry.. which i deleted.. pesky load up files..

thanks

You could just take msconfig.exe from a Win98 CD or installation and copy it to your windows dir in Win2K. It gives an error message when it first launches, but then it comes up and works fine. I've removed a couple of startup programs doing it this way.

Yes there is one that it similar to msconfig in Win2K. Do the following.
Select control panel ->Administrative tools->services.

You should see a listing of applications. It gives the name of the service, a description,status and startup(how it is started, which can be altered). You can also view the dependencies of each service that is running by simply highlighting and right clicking on a particular service then selecting properties from the context menu. Could go further, but check it out.
