win2k mouse drivers

Here is the situation: I recently destroyed my cpu, and just yesterday installed the new one. all the hardware was replaced exactly as before, all the peripherals are in the same PCI slots. Windows boots, but after the startup screen (the one with the blue bar scrolling horitzontally, etc) i get an extremely odd BSOD, which says that the "mouclass.sys" driver cannot be loaded. This screen even shows up when i try to boot off a win2k or win98 boot disk. Is this a hardware or software problem, and is there any effective and longlasting fix other than to reformat my HD and reinstall?

Have you tried going into safemode and fixing the problem?? You might be able to fix it in safemode. But other than that, I would suggest formatting and reinstalling.
