Win2k: is it possible to lock out features?

Can features like the taskbar, control panel and access to Internet explorer be striped out or locked out from every other user except the administrator? I am using Win2k as just a means to access a remote desktop (Terminal Services) and it would make my life easier if the people who use this terminal can?t mess with any of the settings or save/install programs. All that is need is to launch remote desktop upon startup. Also, can the shut down button be made to only allow for shutting down, and not display log off, restart or standby? Thanks for the help 🙂

Oh also does anyone know how to get the keyboard to power up the computer? I am using a Logitech keyboard, which has a power key, but it only works to shut down the computer.

Well, you can edit group policies via computer management, that will give you some of the things that you are needing.

As for powering up via the keyboard, that only works if the computer motherboard supports it in its power management settings.

The only way to apply different policies to different groups of users is to use Active Directory. If you edit the policies using gpedit.msc on a Win2k machine that is not part of an AD domain, the policies will apply to all users on that machine--admins, users, power users; everyone.
