win2k irq trouble

thisis the deal.. I've got a scsi cdrom and burner. they are both very unstable.. and the cdrom keeps polling all the friggin time.

I also have trouble with the puter hanging.. for justa few secs.. and then it comes back.

It says ther aren't any conflicts but I doubt that. And it reports that soundcard, graphicscard, nic, usbkcontroller and more are all on irq 9.. how can this be?

How can I change this?

Your rig is using ACPI, which also happens to enable virtual IRQ's. Win2K is able to assign virtual IRQ's to all the devices you mentioned, so even though they all appear to be using the same IRQ (usually 9 and 11).

If you would rather have full control of the IRQ assignments, you can do away with virtual IRQ's by changing your computer from ACPI to a standard computer and then reenabling APM under your OS afterwards.
