Win2K IP Routing

AfterBurn

Senior member
Hi,

I know W2K server has an mmc for iprouting between interfaces, and i also know W2K Pro is able to do the same. However, the only way to get professional to do ip routing and nat (with ethernet cards) is to use regedit. Fun, but not my favorite solution. Is there anyway to do this a more subtle way? Will the mmc applet for server work under professional? Any suggestions, smart(ass 😉 remarks, hints, tips, tricks?

I'm not sure what you mean... Do you just want to share your internet connection? If so, that's extremely simple. You have several choices... You can use the built-in software called ICS (Internet Connection Sharing), or you can download an alternative (and probably better) piece of software to do the job, such as Sybergen Sygate (see Sygate.com).

I myself use Sygate, and I'm satisfied with it. Everything works perfectly fine. Even when I was using 98 yesterday and my network wasn't functioning, Sygate on each comp could see each other... Now I'm in Win2K, and everything's working perfectly.

Yeah, id like the internal feature to be used. Except you cant do it,except with editing the registry on Professional; it only lets you share between LAN/Dial-up, and i need to route from LAN/LAN
