Win2k Internet Connection Sharing

I am just getting to the point where I want to use my Win2K machine to do everything instead of booting back and forth between it and Win98SE. I access the net through a cable connection which works great if I am logged in as the Admin. Obviously I dont want to run as Admin unless I am making changes to the system but when I log in to my normal user account for everyday use I do not have access to the net. Now I am sure this has something to do with a permissions setting somewhere but I can't seem to find it anywhere in the pathetic little manual that came with Win2K Pro. If one of you super people could direct in how to accomplish this I would be forever indebted to you 🙂

Thank you ahead of time for your help.....

Doesnt that defeat the purpose of not running as admin all the time? I dont know thats why I am asking but I thought that running as admin all the time is not something you want to do for security purposes and so during everyday use I dont do something stupid to mess the system up.

Thanks for your help

don't be afraid. use the force.

seriously, the reason you wouldn't have it logged in as admin if there are other users besides you that you don't want them screwing things up.

So security isnt a problem with me having a dedicated connection and being logged in as Admin?
I had heard about not doing that when you have a static IP and are connected all the time.

May the Schwartz be with you!!!!!

Tanks

just rename the admin account to something not obvious, then u wont have to worry about peeps using thast accoun to do harm.

Have you tried making yourself a Power User account (I think that's what it's called)? It gives you more priviledges (you can install most software, and probably use your cable modem), but it does protect you from messing up your system in some ways.
