Win2K installation problem...

I'm reinstalling Win2K on my system, but it keeps freezing up near the end of the process. It goes through the entire installation, but when it gets to the Performing Final Tasks section of the installation, it makes it to the Registers components section, and then freezes in the middle of it. I've tried numerous times, and it freezes each time in the same place.

Anyone know what the problem is?

If not, what can I do get Win2K installed? How can I simply format my hard disk and start from scratch. Right now, I don't even know how to get to a command prompt.

Thanks,

Adam

I would use a Win98SE or ME bootdisk to get to the command prompt... after formatting, I'd stick in the Win2K boot disks, or just have the bootable cd and install from there...

Are you sure it's really locked up? I remember when I installed W2k last it looked like it was locked up, but about 10-15 minutes later it finally finished.

i know my installation is always slow there. it could be that its not frozen but just incredibly slow.

When your installing windows2000 and at the point you believe that your computer has locked up press your cap locks button a few times. If it comes on and off, then your computer has not crashed, if it doesnt then it has. Usually the last step in the Windows 2000 takes a few minutes so just be patient and use the test I just told u about.
