Win2K install switch to force APM?

My system keeps craping out in ACPI; but it seems that Win2K detects Abit's BP6 BIOS as ACPI compliant and uses it regardless of whether it's enabled or disabled in the BIOS.
I've looked for a switch on MS's site - no luck.
Anyone here knows how to get it to install as APM?
 
you can go to the device manager and convert the computer type from ACPI PC to standard PC.
For installing, you have to press either F5 or F6 , I don't remember which, and then it will give you an option for installing standard PC.
 
Converting from ACPI to Standard PC doesn't always work, and APM is not installed when you do the conversion as well.

Can you downgrade your BIOS to a version that does not support ACPI properly or something? Install Win2K on the system and then upgrade the BIOS again afterwards. That should work.

Otherwise, you might try to put in a non-ACPI compliant device in your system. That would also prevent Win2K installing in ACPI mode.

Oh....probably the best way is to press F5 during the very first detection phase during Win2K's installation and manually selecting the Standard PC HAL.
