win2k install, smartdrive problem

I wanted t oinstall Win2k pro on an old machine, that has a formatted hd. At the prompt I went into the I386 folder of the cd, then ran winnt. A message box came up saying there was no Smartdrive on the machine. Then gave me an option if i wanted to cancel or continue. Well, I continued, and its been about 8 hours and its still copying files onto the drive. Is there anyway around this for next time? Thanks

Find a file named smartdrv.exe in windows 95/98 and copy into your startup diskette. Boot from the diskette and at A:/ prompt type smartdrv.exe (enter), then go to whatever drive you have the i386 in and run winnt. Drastically quicker with smartdrv.
