win2k image problems

ok, this has been going on for quite a while, and it's not that annoying, but if i can get rid of it, then i would really like to. what happens is that sometimes when i'm selecting icons, and then deselect them, they look as if they stay selected. even the selection box that is drawn stays there, but they aren't selected, it's as if win2k isn't clearing the frame buffer or something. i can refresh the desk top and that'll make it go away. this also happens when i'm dragging and dropping files with the right-click mouse button and clicking the submenu that comes up "move here" or "copy here." the menu will stay there, and will not go away unless i refresh the desktop or put a window over it and then it'll disappear. any ideas.?

they do them with any version of the detonator drivers from nvidia, even the most recent ones, and the ones from the manufacturer. i can cure it if i turn off active desktop, but i like active desktop. know how both can coexist? thanks.

Right click on desktop: Properties | Settings | Advanced | Troubleshooting

Kick down the notch a couple steps...this should correct 2d refresh problems.

i have seen this on other computers as well. i thought it was isolated to my computer. guess not. i guess i'll just disable active desktop and leave it at that.
