Do you still have 98? Just run the msconfig.exe in 2000 and it'll do the same thing.

Check out Startup Cop, you can remove programs etc.. or you can do it through the registry..
All startup programs that are not listed in the Startup folder in the Start menu will be in the registry sections below:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Userinit]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows]

Hope this helps,

I tried msconfig 10 times and it doesn't work for me. Also, I dl'ed StartCop and it gave me a file that I have to put somewhere. I got no readme or instructions just the Windows file icon. Any suggestions?

I think that Startup Control Panel at this URL

http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

is the most useful and elegantly written utility I've seen for the purpose of controlling non-service startup items in NT and W2K. It is available in two versions, an executable and a Control Panel applet. It is freeware.
