my friend with the same mobo has the same problem.

a big fat Hardware Error during the clean install

One cause of hardware errors on install is the UDMA drivers for your HD.
You have to install those first and the Win2k install asks you early on if
you have to install SCSI or Third Party drivers. You have to hit F3 or something like that. Good Luck.
