Win2k/hard drive question

Ok, I have this drive that's been killing me. I low leveled it and hope that all is well now but I can't seem to set it up in win2k... All i've done to it is run maxtors low level software then fdisk'd it with an ext dos partition via a 98 boot disk but didn't format it. When i get into windows, I can see the drive in the disk management snap-in and it's online, but won't let me format it and doesn't have a drive letter... All i can do is delete that partition, make a logical partition within the ext dos partition or convert it to a dynamic disk. When i format the disk, via the 98 boot disk, using fat 32 it gets into windows and locks up. I'm confused, please help me out here! Thanks in advance

Well, if you can get to the disk manager in Win2k and can create a logical partition, that is what needs to be done. You can't format the extended partition with no logical partitions inside that ext partition. Make any sense? Once you create the logical partitions win2k should ask you to format it with either fat32 or ntfs.

great, thanks... i didn't want to do it before asking cuz like i said this drive has been killing me... I never did fully understand ext dos partitions and logical partitions...
