Win2k, Games, and Overclocking...

I have No One Lives Forever and Tony Hawk Pro Skater and they don't work. Whenever I install them, it goes along fine. When I run the game, though, nothing happens. I double click and it just doesn't do anything. I know the games work in Win2k because they are listed to at ntcompatible.com. Would overclocking the computer below cause these games not to load? I'm have a 600Mhz@112 which gives me 672. I also installed directx 8, but none of my other directx games have any problems. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
David

I am running NOLF in Win 2k and it runs OK (still locks from time to time). If you are running DX8, try the leaked 7.10 detonators from 3dchipset.com. I have seen much better framerates in NOLF with them, and a little better stability (I think my SB Live is causing the prob, not the GF2). Also, is you color depth cranked up on you desktop? The support page on the NOLF website says that having your color depth set to 256 colors or below will cause this. Good luck, it is a great game!

Well, I have my desktop at 32bit...and I'm running 7.17 drivers that were also leaked. I'm just mainly wondering if the fact that my system is overclocked could play a part in it.

Not sure- you could always try running at default speed just to see if it works. Sounds like a SW issue of some sort to me, though. Generally overclocking type errors will cause lockups and crashes, especially once the system gets hot. I have heard their are issues with the 7.17 NEDs,a different driver rev may be worth a shot. Edit

Also disable anything running in the background like anti-virus etc, this will also free up resources for the game.

🙂

To anyone having NOLF problems- I know I have had a few- I found a good forum with lots of info.
Go to nolfnews.com and check out the forums there. LOTS of people posting on the game and technical issues.
