Win2k Full Install Same As Upgrade???

I have Win98 and just got a copy of Win2k upgrade from a friend. Would installed the upgrade make my comp the same as if I had just installed the full version? After a format do I need to install win98 and then win2k? Or can I just point win2k to the win98 disk when it checks for a previous version and not have to bother installing win98? Finally, if I can do this, will the files needed from win98 fit on a disk with win2k so I don't need to swap disks? Just curious because if getting the full version would be less hassle I'll just get that, it's real cheap from my friend.

ok, If the upgrade version you have is the same as our school provides, then you should be able to do a install from scratch with it. Also you can install win 2k on a separate partition and do "dual boot" with that version...

Hmm, I meant the win2k is the upgrade. I have a full version of win98fe and a full version of win98se, I assume it doesn't matter which I use. I don't want any reminents of win98 left on my system, so I want to install win2k on a blank harddrive and then just point the install to the win98 cd when it asks for it. This works w/ win95 to win98 w/ the upgrade, so I'm wondering if this is what I can do with win98 to win2k. Also, is the win2k upgrade going to be the same as if I had a full version of win2k installed?

thats what I meant too. I used the "upgrade" version of win 2k and could install win 2k on a new partition. Also I could boot of the CD and use it to install a full version on a blank HD.

i dont know if your question was answered. yes the upgrade is the same as the full version once installed. the upgrade asks for a previous version of windows. thats the difference.
