WIN2K frozen

I am having a few teething problems with WIN2K... let me elaborate.

I installed WIN2K about 2 weeks ago (fresh install on a formatted HDD) and all seemed to be going quite well until it decided to start freezing when ever I play network games on my LAN. I am forced to press reset. It then goes into start up loops.... ie. it almost gets through the start up process and just stops and starts over again... after about 3 goes it decides to start correctly again. When it is running it works well! It is just that this one little problem is starting to get to me. I am also having some trouble using NERO to burn CD's.... after I burn a disk and close the program it wont start the program again and sometimes freezes forcing me to reset the machine also. I tried uninstalling NERO thinking that it could be the problem and it didn't change a thing... I also downloaded the update for NERO and that seemed to make the program run faster but the stability of the program was still dodgy.
Has anyone else had these start up loops happen to them? What is the cause of this and how can I over come it?

Sound = SB Live! Platinum.
Video = Matrox Millenium G400
MoBo = IWill VD133
CPU = P3 733EB
Realtek network cards on all machines (Never missed a beat)
Sony CD/RW and Adaptec SCSI card (Also never missed a beat)
Standard CD Rom (Although it is slow it has worked fine)
Seagate 30Gig 7200rpm HDD (A little too slow for what I need but it works OK)
Running WIN2K
No other OS's installed. No drive partitions and I only have NERO for burning CD's. I couldn't see why it was doing this.... any ideas?

Have you installed win2k service pack 2 and Directx8.1? if you havent then try that first. Uninstall the sound card drivers and make the update then install the sound drivers last. Play the games and see if its ok.

Another thing. Not sure but I think that Microsoft has a program that you can download and run that will examine your system and determine if it is compatible with Windows 2000. Run it and see what it says.

My copy og 2K came with service pack 2 and I downloaded the newest drives from Creative for my soundcard when I installed W2K. I will run that Hardware and Software Compatibility program tonight when I get home.
Thanks for that!!!!
🙂
