Okay, I'm a win2k n00b. I've been using Win98SE for the last 3 or 4 years sticking to my policy of using the 2nd newest OS from M$ (I don't like being a beta tester when it comes to OSes). Anyway, overall its been great, but whats the equivalent of the 'msconfig' utility that lets you manage startup tsrs, registry etc.??? TIA

there isn't a native one, other than editing the run fields in the registry

startup control panel is a great little 3rd party tool that will do what you want for win2k and is what most people use

I like this program:

StartupCPL

There is a version of MSCONFIG that works with Win2K; it was taken from a beta of WinXP. But this is even better for controlling which programs run when Windows boots.

However, if you would like to check out both of them:

MSCONFIG

Oops!

anyways, you can just copy & paste the win98 msconfig to win2k.
