Win2k drops net connection intermittently?

Hi all! just installed windows 2000 on a computer and it intermittently drops the network connection (about 5 minutes into the session) such that I have to disable the connection and then reenable it to make it work again. It was working perfectly in win98se so the NIC is not a problem. Is there a fix for this? I know some of you others have encountered this problem . . .? the NIC is a D-Link DFE-530TX. thanks for your help!

I see we live in the same area 😉, so I'd do this to make sure it is not @Home. In a w2k command window type 'ipconfig /all' and look at the lease obtained and lease expiration lines. The time periods should vary by several days. I had a problem a while back where it was set to 40 minutes, so every 40 minutes I'd lose the internet, and the DHCP would not give me a new lease until the old one expired so no manual updates would work. Your event log may also point to a problem, and that is what helped me discover mine.
