Win2K driver woes. New Info....

AAARRRGGHH!!!

Hate when ppl edit out their post to to nothingness, What was the driver problem and how did you fix it?

Sorry, just had to get that out. Sometimes it may seem simple to you but genius to someone else. You just never know when some piece of trivial knowledge will enlighten or inspire the next person that reads your post.

Sorry... It basically went like this...

I was installing drivers, but when I rebooted, The device manager still had the same fubar'd drivers present. I tried everything. Clean install, upgrade, dual boot. I saw this with both my video and sound drivers. Everything would install properly, I would reboot and nothing. It was really starting to get to me.

I finally solved it by pulling apart my entire system (except for the essential components), resetting the bios, and installing each piece of hardware separately. Either it was a conflict with my hardware, or Win2k just didn't like handling all my hardware at once. I'm not sure. Here are some system specs.

(installed in this order more or less)

P3 550e (oc 733)
Soyo +III MB
256 MB infineon
20.5 GB Maxtor 7200
5 GB WD 5400
CL GeForce SDR AGP
DTC SCSI Controller w/
16x NEC SCSI
4x8 Matsushita CDR
Soundblaster Live! MP3+
Generic Realtek PCI 10-bt
Hauppauge WinTV Tuner

Sorry I edited out the post. Probably should have just added another message.
🙂
