Win2K domain changes

I use a laptop at work w/2K. At our office it is set up as a member of a domain - to work w/DHCP. I have to move around to different locations and when doing so I have to set a static IP and change the gateway. On return to my office when I change back the gateway and back to DHCP, I have to rejoin the domain-it puts me back in a work group.
In system properties I have to go back into network ID and reconnect to the network and in properties it puts me back in a workgroup and I have to change back to a domain. No changes are made to these settings when I move around, just to the IP and gateway.
It is just a pain....a few other people are having the same problems and I'm curious if this is me(lack of knowledge or incorrect settings)or a "know problem".

TIA

There is a program called netswitch of netswitcher. In this program you can create a few network-configurations and switch from one to another with a flick of a button... If you do a search on the internet you can easily find it. You can test it for a few weeks before you'll have to purchase it (it contineus to work if you don't).

I work as a system engineer and have users who work on different sites with their laptops. We've had the same problems as you described untill we started using netswitch.

Perhaps it's usefull for you.....
