Win2k dies again..

On Win2k start up, I got a blue screen saying something like:

Cannot load \SystemRoot\System32\Software

and then the system reboots, and the cycle repeats forever. This is the second time I have a registry problem. So I will have to reinstall once again. Any advice/suggestions for me?

also, does anyone know how I can backup my Outlook inbox and calendar from this now DOS-only accessible system?

I'm not sure what to tell you about finding your problem. Have you performed a surface scan on the drive??? Is there a possibility of a faulty controller???

As far as your Outlook stuff use a boot disk if you're using FAT and the command console if you're using NTFS and navigate to this directory.
C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

The .pst file there has all your Outlook information in it.

Your rules will be found here
C:\Documents and Settings\"user name"\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
