Win2k Debugging takes FOREVER! HELP!

I have win2k pro on my computer, and every time an application crashes, it takes 15 mins (literally) to gain use of my computer again, because of all the hard drive activity.

I disabled everything in the Startup and Recovery, but it still seems to do it!

What else can I do to make it do NOTHING when something crashes?

Erase Win2k and install Linux 😛

Try this, go to
Control Panel/System Properties/Advanced/Startup and Recovery/System Failures

Untick everything in there and select (NONE) in Write debugging information

When application crash in Win2000, basically Doctor Watson comes out and do a memory dump of the program memory space. I dont think the fix actually stop this from happening though.

It sounds like its the app causing the problem.... Hit control-alt-delete and see what process is taking up the processing.... If its the app, kill the process and continue...

I figured it out 🙂

I just disabled Dr. Watson from the Registry following the instructions on MS's Knowledge Base.

OMG THANK you! I have had this problem for two years, on Win98, WinME, and now in Win2000. Every time I exit Half Life (when using Gamespy) I would get an error, and it would take one or two minutes to spin the disk and finally boot me out. This actually fixed it! Little error box, then right back to the desktop! Woohoo!

Or you could just go and navigate to C:\winnt\system32 and find drwtsn32.exe This will give you a graphical interface to uncheck boxes and tweak the thing if you don't entirely want to disable.
