Does compressing files on a ntfs drive affect the access to the files in anyway. Im running a ftp server and want to compress the contents of the dl folder. Will this affect the file whrn they dl it?

thanks

Your question is, are those files going to be compressed while they download?

Well I dont think so, when a user requests those files, windows will need to uncompress those files first then send it to the user. It shouldn't affect the users in anyway, except there will be slightly more cpu usage on the server because you need to umcompress the file first.
