Here is the original post from the General Hardware section:

Basically we can't see the IBM 75GXP in Win2K. We have even split it so that it consists of TWO partitions. One NTFS the other FAT32.

Anybody know what could be going on here?

Thanks,

Partitions are a windows thing. The hard drive is still 75 gigs. The question should be - can the bios correctly detect the drive? Even if it can there may still be problems. I have a board that can detect both of my hdds (a 20 and 30 gig), but windows can't see them and my system locks up. If remove one of them it works fine. In my case it is the MB that is at fault.

I would start by checking the basics first. Then check the board manufacturer's web site to see if problems like yours are occuring.

Thats the best i can do.

Is this drive attached to a third party IDE controller (like a pormise card or onboard ATA100 on an A7V)? That could be your problem, since you would need drivers for Win2k to see the drive.

I had the same problem.. with an A7V and a Diamond Max 30 gig ata 100 drive. My mobo has the promise ata controller.. I got the drivers for it.. I still couldn't get the win2K setup to see the drive. I was wrestling with that problem for weeks.. I gave up and installed 98.. It seemed like anything that I did wouldn't work. I hope you figure it out.. if you do.. pm me and let me know, I'm curious.

Nope, its just attached to the on-board controller for the BH6. <shrug>

I'm stumped. We will probably pull it out and put it in another computer tonight..
