Can any one help me out here?
I've got the network card installed correctly for WIN2000 OS, and it's called "LAN CONNECTION 2", from command prompt, the ip address came up, but neither IE or netscape works. What can I do to change that?

at the command prompt type <ipconfig /all>

under lan connection 2 tell me what is after the "DNS Servers" entry

Got two pcmcia cards: ethernet and token ring. When I am at work, I use token ring, at home I use ethernet. At work, ip address and IE and other apps seem to go through a proxy to go out. At home, I've got fast broadband direct connection, so I use ethernet. From command prompt, the ip address all came up correctly, I can ping dns, gateway, www.yahoo.com all fine. But IE is not working saying DNS servers is not working or equivalent, neither does Outlook Express and Netscape. Seems like IE is stuck at detecting the proxy from work earlier which I don't have when I get home.

in internet options...turn off option to use proxy server...
right click IE and go to connections>lan settings
this might be the path..trying to go from memory but thats the path for NT 4.0...

it seems that win2000 doesn't see that the ethernet card is connected to the internet, even though there's an icon for the network connection (may be just for netbeui). Or somehow the registry is tweaked to not use any other pc card for internet except the token ring card. Is there any way I can tweak the registry to always use the ethernet card for internet connection?
