Win2k: Can?t browse C: drive when installing software?

Hi all,

I am not sure if a Windows tweak program caused this or SimCity4, but whenever I try to install something now or unzip a file and get prompted with the window asking me where I want to install to I get this:

- Desktop
+ My Network Places
Recycle Bin

No longer does the C: drive or any other drive for that matter show up. The other ?problem? I have is when I start Windows Explorer now the branch for Documents and Settings is always open (-) and shows the zillion folders that is contained inside of it.

Anyone know how to fix these 2 problems? I can?t figure it out and am close to reinstalling over it. Thanks for any help provided.

Sorry, can't help you on your real problem, but at least heres a bump for you.

Anyway, on your second problem, are you launching explorer from the start menu or shortcut, or are you using quick launch keys?

If you are clicking on a shortcut, you can change the shortcut and put a path as an argument after explorer.exe and it will start there.

Thanks for the info. I did fix the Explorer problem when it showed Documents and Settings on startup by adding arguments to the target path of the icon.

Still can't get the C: drive to show for installs, etc. Reinstall soon I guess even though I just did that a month ago 🙁

Anyway, one last effort and 1 more question: Does anyone know how to delete and reinstall Windows Explorer? I'm thinking that might help, but every thing I've been able to read about details stuff for Internet Explorer. I did uninstall that, IE and reinstall it but that did no good.
