Win2K booting really SLOOOW!

I have win2k clean installed and have implemented all of the updates from windowsupdate. My system boots to the gui and then is unresponsive for 20-30 sec as it "waits" for my "network cable unplugged" icon shows up in the system tray. After that it works fine, but before I clean installed it didn't do this. I'm on ADSL b.t.w. so the system tray icon is normal. Just hoping for some advice as to why it might be taking so long to initialize. There are no other programs other thatn msn messenger starting with windows.
Thanks!

Thanks very much! That prog was really useful in traking my boot. I found it more difficult with 2K than with 98 but this made things much easier. Again...Thanks 🙂
