Win2K boot failure won't create boot log, restarts before finished

This is a strange one that I've been fighting with all day. Windows 2000 which prior to today has worked for over 6 months on an Abit KT7 Duron 650@650, 128 megs RAM and plenty of HD space. Here's what happens...

As Windows 2000 boots I get the splash screen as things load as normal. Near the end of the boot process and before the desktop shows itself I get a quick BSOD that is too quick to read and then it restarts the computer.

I've turned on boot logging and it doesn't get the chance to dump the info from the Registry to create the log. Safe mode is a no-go with the same result.

Any ideas? Nothing new installation wise on the system, and I can dual-boot to WinME without a problem. Yeah, I can wipe and reinstall after I copy the important stuff over (damn I love that NTFS for Win98) but I put a lot of work into getting that to work.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Unless you've made recent hardware changes, sounds like corrupted system files. First thing I'd try is a repair install.
