win2k/ata100/scsi question

i have win2k pro on my computer but the sp2 is not installed. i also have an ata100 seagate harddrive. i used the utilities on the seagate homepage and it shows that i am operating under udma5. i've heard that win2k doesn't work with udma5...how is my situation possible then?

also, win2k recognizes my seagate harddrive as a scsi when it's not....i've loooked on the seagate website and they don't have any drivers available. my only solution is to use their utilitiesto reinstall/reformat your hard drive but i dont' want to do that...any suggestions?

I think that ata100 is regarded as scsi by the bios. If you go into bios setup you may see a selection for boot priority where the choice is scsi then ata or ata then scsi. This has a direct effect on whether the drive connected to the ata100 is used as the primary boot device or the drive connected to the ata66/33 if you have one like I do. I have Mandrake Linux installed on my second drive connected to the ata66 controller because ml does not support ata100 on my onboard Promise controller.
