win2k and service pack?

I'm going to attempt to install win2k for the first time. I'm going to reformat and dual boot win2k and 98 (maybe eventually linux).

but I did a bit of search and read that if you're going to dual boot, you have to install a service pack for win2k. so what is this all about? and where can I get the most updated service pack?
