I am having troulble running windows 2000 on my 45G IBM Deskstar ATA-100. My problem is the system will randomly freeze up and require a manual reboot- this happens at least once every couple hours, even when I only have one application open. My old drive was a 13G Quantum Fireball ATA-66, and I had win2k running under that for a month without any problems, which is why I think its the IBM drive. I have all the latest drivers, including theat AMD AGP patch, and I'm not overclocking anything. I have a dual boot with 98SE, but no problems there beyond the norm. Has anyone had a problem like this?
system:
T-bird 800
Asus A7V
256Meg Cas2 RAM
GeForce Card (ASUS 6800 Deluxe)
45G IBM Deskstar 75GXP ATA-100
13G Quantum Fireball
Sound Blaster Live! value
Plextor 8/4/32
Toshiba 32X CD-ROM
AMD approved 300W power supply

try installing the win2k ata100 hotfix. it seemed to have solve my crashes using a maxtor ata66 drive. it was freezing up out of nowhere, and i had to reboot. especially when i would transfer files from one disk to another.
