I have a Conexant software modem. I installed the Conexant drivers that came with Windows 2000. When doing diagnostics, "Query Modem" works fine, however, the modem won't actually dial. Any idea how to get it going?

(Original message, to which the first to messages reply: I installed Windows 2000 on my new computer. I'm using a Conexant based software modem that comes with drivers for 95, 98 and NT4, but not 2000. It's from I.G.V.C, which I couldn't find on the web. I want to get it to work in Win2K. Are there any generic drivers for this kind of thing?)

Yeah, sorry. I just came back here to delete this message, and saw your answer. Seems like I missed that in the list of drivers the first time I looked. I still can't connect, though.

konichiwa, actually, it isn't on the HCL. The driver I installed was for HCF modem, which wasn't correct, as it's an HSF modem - the lowliest of software modems, but still the one with the fastest download speed that I could find (don't care about latency, as I don't play games much, and never online).

Anyway, I found a driver through a great modem site, http://www.modem-help.freeserve.co.uk/. Now I'm writing this on Win2K, while downloading Netscape 4.74 at over 5K/s (was close to 6K/s, before I went to Anandtech).
