Win2k and Everquest

Does anyone here play Everquest on a Win 2k box? Does the fact that Win 2k puts everything on IRQ cause any problems? The reason I am asking is that a friend is still using 98SE and he wants to upgrade to Win2k. The reason I am leary of the one IRQ issue is that when I installed a backup dial up modem and it shared an IRQ with something else(can't remember off the top of my head) and it caused jerky gameplay.
