I have been getting random lockups mouse just stops moving.. no keyboard lights.. have to reboot. anyone know what might be causing this? using 4.28 4 in 1's no busmaster.. did the same with 4.26. all I have is the upgrade version of 2k.. so I pretty much have to install 98 first then upgrade.

Thanks.

I get this same problem every once in awhile, seems totally random. System will be working fine for a long time 10+ hours, then sometimes it just totally freezes under no load.

Another thing I've noticed recently under win2k is it will freeze for a couple seconds and then continue. And during the time it's not responding it seems to be buffering mouse/keyboard inputs. Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I'm putting in an enermax 450 in a couple days, I'll see if that makes any difference.

on the having to load win98 first...
that may not be correct. I will use the upgrade for me or even for 98 and when it says it cannot find the setup files for the previous os, it will also ask for its location you can (in your case) put in the win 98 cd and say "there they are" and it will see the cd and files it needs to do the upgrade for you. then you swap cds again (on mine I put the old cd in the cdr drive and the upgrade I am installing in the dvd drive)and finish the install.

I am not sure if this will work for win2k or not but it does work for my me upgrade and it worked for my 98 upgrade. I use an old oem version of win95

I would have a cool tagline but I lack imagination

it was doing that w/ some of the bios settings (perf enhancing ones) enabled....i forgot...loaded the failsafe ones...and then started my long list of testing checking each one to figure out what setting froze my mouse every once in a while....so far it doesnt seem to be any of the softmenu III, items.... though your results may vary.. :)

I found I needed to leave the the PCI Pipeline Req and P2C/C2P Concurrency (these may be wrong I am typing from memory) settings ENABLED, otherwise I would get random reboots...
