Win2k + AMD Vs. Counterstrike.

Ok, I play a lot of CS, and with my TBird 1GHz I was getting a lot of lock ups, I thought this was a heat problem, as my CPU reaches the 50sC with a full load. But, I came across a registry fix at http://www.amd.com/products/cpg/athlon-duron/amd_win2k_patch.html that supposedly fixes the problem. Unfortunately, upon rebooting I get a blue screen after the Win2k load screen (the "Built on NT Technology" Splash screen), which complains about bad drivers/new hardware. When I use F8 to boot into my last stable configuration everything is fine again, but I still get lockups in CS.

Anyone have any idea what I could do to get this working? Is there another fix out there that might help?

That registry fix is what solved my lockup problems. I don't know why you'd get freezes..

Did you try the MS Win2k patch off their site?

I unstalled Nero (I forget what version) and the problem has gone away. Thanks for trying though.
